note: Included in the four portrait roundels of this room are female likeness whose interpretations are quite speculative. Lilius (1981) assigned them as follows: Lucrezia Tornabuoni (purportedly borrowed from The Tornabuoni Chapel's The Birth of the Baptist; the likeness of Mary Magdalene from Saint Cecilia; and the figures of Thalia and Euterpe from the Vatican Parnassus.These roundels are set within an all'antica white ground filled with grotesque motifs and are flanked with rectangular sfondo nero panels reminiscent of those seen in various preceding workshop projects, from the Stufetta of Cardinal Bibbiena to Palazzo Baldassini.
