Allegory of Prudence (1518-1520)

by:   da Modena   |    Peruzzi      category: Drawing

note:  Linda Wolk-Simon ("Pellegrino," 2013) suggests a dating of c. 1514 and connects this drawing with "the ephemeral decoration created for the Festa di Agone in Rome in 1513, orchestrated by Tommaso Inghirami. . . . It has not been observed previously that a group of enigmatic drawings {including this one] for an unknown project which has been assigned to both Baldassare Peruzzi (1481-1536) and to Raphael's circle may be connected with this campaign" (108).
